SOLD ~ Congratulations
to Mary of Wyoming.
She is exactly that-- my dream girl. Duet is the
first horse I've purchased without riding and getting to know before hand
and she may be the horse of my lifetime. Now this is
saying a lot because I thought I already had my dream horse; Fino, a
charismatic, grey lusitano bred by Ann Ohrel. He and I are training
2nd level--although my trainer can ride him 3rd level quit fluently.
I knew I had to have Duet on the basic of physical specifications. I
could see from pictures and video that she had the type of movement
for dressage that I wanted. Her extended trot is to die for. And
she's gorgeous -- a rich sorrel with long, long, light carmel-colored
mane and tail. But what I've discovered in the past month
since she's been with me is that she also has high, lofty knee action (no
winging what-so-ever) when naturally collected, And the other night
while my 16 year-old daughter was doing some ground work with her, she did
four pure steps in sequence of Spanish Walk!!! If that is how
Duet expresses frustration then that's fine with me! She
is such a kind and considerate mare.
As is typical of iberians, she is very brave and curious. When something
startles her she walks right up to see to investigate. Sandra says
she's only been away from the ranch a few times in her life so the other
evening we took her along with two other mares to a 4H practice night,
just so she could trailer and be groomed in a new place. (She is
still very young and not under saddle yet.) This mare was calm in her new
surroundings within half hour. We ended up ponying her and having a
great time with her on the lunge line.
I can't wait to start her under saddle training.
Duet is the first horse I've owned for whom I feel a deep, warm
affection. I knew from her sire's line (Terry) that there was
a good chance that she would inherit a sweet, willing, quiet temperament.
That in her case is an understatement.
And It's also obvious to me that Sandra does a great job of teaching
her youngsters how to be good citizens.
I love this lady.
